Before Distill Works, Christine spent over $80,000 on agency SEO. The agencies sent monthly reports full of jargon and charged thousands for blog posts nobody read. Adam paid someone to build a WordPress site that got spam-injected within a year. Neither experience was unusual. Both were expensive.
So they built their own tools. And when those tools worked — really worked, in their own businesses — they started offering them to other business owners in the same position.

There are 10,000 new AI marketing agencies this year. Most of them popped up after ChatGPT launched, slapped "AI-powered" on their homepage, and started charging $3,000 a month for blog posts written by a chatbot.
We were building websites and running businesses before ChatGPT existed. The AI is a tool we use — a good one — but it is not the product we sell. The product is a website that generates calls and SEO content that ranks. The AI makes it faster and cheaper. But the strategy, the quality control, and the business understanding come from doing the actual work for 20 years.
